00' S70 GLT p0455 & p1171
 

I bought the car used from a dealer about 2 months ago and during the test drive I never noticed a CEL. When I left the dealer my gas tank was about a 1/4 full so I had to fill up. I left the car running during fillup which has been known to cause the CEL to come on but wasn't too concerned about it. The car filled up just fine and I didn't notice the CEL until I had come home. Ever since that fillup when I go to the gas station, the fuel pump shuts off as if my tank is full after every gallon or so. I took it to pepboys where they gave me the two CEL codes. The mechanic said it's most likely a Control Purge Valve which makes sense to me but it could be other things as well. What i'm wondering is where exactly is this Purge Valve located on my vehicle, i've heard people say its in the rear by the fuel tank, on the radiator shroud etc... Anyone with actual experience on this car that can tell me where this part is located? If it's as simple as swapping out the valve that would be a nice simple fix but as we all know it's never that simple. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Personally I never do anything before resetting the codes and seeing if they come back.

As for filling the car up, there are 100 reasons why you should turn the car off but besides that, that should have no effect of the pump doing the auto shut off thing. Just pull the nozzle out a little, mine shuts off the pump all the time.
