1998 s70 ignition coil

If the coil is bad,would the car still start and run but yet cause Misfire or would it cause the car not start at all.

Usually it causes a no start.

Thanks tech,I had a minor tuneup,plugs,cap,rotor and all is well,no more Cel so far.
