1998 S70 Motor Mounts

What a gorgeous Sunday!!!
Got to looking for the rattle that I posted about previously.
1998 S70 Turbo, 5 speed Manual, 211K Miles.

Engine seems to move more than it should.
Top and Bottom motor mounts seem to be fine.

There is a third motor mount somewhere - I think I found a piece of it on top of the control arm when I did the front end over.

I know it is on the right hand side (Passenger's - US).
The timing belt side of the engine.

Does it hook to the oil pan or to the block?
Is it towards the radiator (front) or towards the firewall (back)?

Does anybody know where it is?

It's bolted to the subframe and engine block. Take off the passenger front wheel. Flap the plastic fender liner up so you are looking at the crankshaft pulley. You will also be looking at the motor mount. You will see two bolts going into the engine block. The engine must be supported to replace the mount. An engine hoist is best, but careful placement of a jack w/ a block of wood under the end of the oil pan can work - just don't push up more than enough to support the engine.

Thanks -
Looks like I will have to take it apart to look at it.
I was hoping to be able to see it before I took it apart, but it looks like that won't be possible.
Engine hoist sounds like the way to go - I haven't used it in a while, but I think I'd rather reassemble it than trust a bottle jack on the floor with a block of wood on it.

I got distracted by the job I did on the front end - normally, if I do something like that, the problem is where I was last!

It should only take about 10 minutes to check it. Take the wheel off, take a screw out of the splash guard and there it is.

That looks like it.
Mount is snapped in "back" and totally missing in the "front".
Now to wait for the part.................

Thanks again!!

I really like the mount design. It has hooks to keep it from going up to high and rubber on the bottom to give it a little cusion when it's torn. Nice backup mount system.

Good thing that it held - I was on a 300+ mile trip when it broke.
Well, the new one is in, and the car is an absolute dream to drive a this point.
Quiet, tight handling, just a joy.
And I was wrong on the mileage - its 228,000.
Probably put more in to the car than it was worth, but I'm not sure that's the point any more.
