1998 volvo s70
 

I have a 1998 Volvo s70 it won't start. Hesitate battery dies I jump the car it starts up normally and also when I turn it off fan stays running and when I go to start it up again it cranks but doesn't. Start. Battery. Die what can it be going to try a new battery. Can you. Help

The coolant temperature sensor is causing the fan to stay running after you shut the car off and is killing the battery The sensor is located on the thermostat housing (it should be green or gray with one connector. Replace it and the fan should stop running and the car will run much better. Again it is the coolant temperature sensor, NOT the thermostat.

does the fan start up when you jumper the battery? thinking it could also be the fan relay (I think its up front under the radiator shroud) but ECT sensor is a probably cause as well.

I mentioned the ECT as the OP stated the car would also hesitate......Possibly too rich a mixture due to a bad ECT. Hopefully they will post a resolution to the issue so we know!
