Smile Troubleshoot S70 stuck valve lifter -any ideas on cure w/out dismantle?

Have a 1999 S70 w/130,00 miles. Running Amsoil for last 40K. Woman who owned it before says she ran synthetic also....inside of engine looking through oil fill looked clean but who knows.

Started using a little oil ... about half a quart every 1500 miles. Then the rattle started and the chatter is coming from a stuck lifter. Any ideas or suggestions to try before having to replace/repair it?

Aren't they down in the block and doesn't the head have to come? Anyone have this problem?

Any ideas on how much it would cost to repair? Anything else that should be done while it's apart?

Have had three 4 cylinder Volvos, all with over 250K on them, one I still have going strong at 320K. Also have 3 5 cylinders, all turbos. Have never had any problems at all with a valve lifter sticking. Is this a rare thing for a Volvo?

Thanks for any suggestions / comments.
