Advanced Timing

Timing belt appears to be in great shape [as if it was changed before I bought the car]. I'm getting a code p0014 [advanced timing] and the engine light comes on. The car cranks up on the bump even when it's super cold outside, idles around 850ish, and the car car drives really good especially on the freeway.

is this code a bad thing?

Could the timing have been advanced on purpose by the previous owner for it to run better or have more power?

what year is your s70? if you have a newer model (ie 2000+) with VVT, it could be the cam position sensor or something in the VVT gear. If your running good and have good fuel economy, I'd probably rule out the timing belt being a notch off...

It's a 2000. Yes it runs good and gets good gas mileage. It's that the engine light is a little annoying. Is the sensor something that is hard to change?

I s there a way to tell if the sensor is bad?
