Hi all,
ALL compressors do not cycle. The V5 compressor on GM cars do no cycle at all.
The compressor is a variable displacement compressor that self adjusts to the
load put on the a/c system. There are low and high pressure switches or sometimes
just a pressure sensor to disable compressor clutch operation under unusual conditions
I read the above on the web, hope this is not the case for Volvo compressors.
My a/c stopped working intermittenly on the hottest days this summer (35 ++)
I topped up with a recharge kit (Bad idea?)
Now the compressor stays on all the time, does not disengage at all, leading to ice build up
Can anyone help me please. I'm frustrated!!!

Does replacing the switch mean the "gas" is going to have to be recharged? Is it the switch close to the firewall on the low side hose? The plug thingy or just the electrical part?
Any chance this could be too much gas as I think I put in about 6 ounces?

Hey Guys,
I changed the low pressure switch, and thanks to TECH, it now works like a charm.
So, after changing the switch, I unlocked the car, opened the hood, opened the PASSENGER side door and started the car, to hear the beautiful sound of the compressor clutch clicking on and off. After 2 minutes of this, the car locked itself!!!! (I hadn't opened the driver's side door, and it re-arms itself in 2 minutes if the driver's side is not opened, the key was in the ignition)
Now I had a car with engine ON and no way to unlock, as the factory remote would not work when the ignition was on. After market remote was in the keychain, now in the ignition switch!!
I had to finally pull the ignition wire, then pull the ignition switch fuse and fool the remote into thinking the car was off, to finally get it to open!!!
Ha....I was sweating!!!!
