Another Timing Belt Question!
Sorry, I see there are plenty already.
Anyway. My tensioner pulley went out, and the belt jumped. We were worried at first that there was valve damage... but we replaced the belt, lining up the marks appropriately and not really doing much else, and i think we got lucky. It cranks! And it's actually running pretty smooth. The only problem is this little "ting" sound that seems to occur with each stroke. It's somewhat faint, and not particularly scary sounding. What do you thinkthat could be? Is there a chance that the valves might just be a little bent, to where it cranks and runs fine, but makes this sound? If so, is it worth the trouble of a valve replacement job? |
RE: Another Timing Belt Question!
Maybe what you hear is a lifter tapping.
If it runs fine I doubt it is a valve. |
RE: Another Timing Belt Question!
I would run a compression test on all cylinders, before I did any head work. Yeah a bent valve would make itrun like crapola.
