Beeping Door Ajar Issue
 

The door light underneath the dash on the driver's side wouldn't go off (so I pulled the bulb) but the accompanying beeping is driving me crazy! It starts the second I put the key in the ignition and won't stop. Plus, it drained the battery somehow. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's gotta be the door switch. I don't know for sure where or what type of switching mechanism Volvo uses, but I will check on my car this morning and let you know what I see.

The funny thing is that I can't find the door switch! I remember on older cars it used to be something similar to an on/off light switch that would be pushed in once the door closed on it. Don't see anything remotely like that on the Volvo though. Thanks for taking the time to look on yours! Best, John.

Yeah dangit, me too jaws I couldnt find it on mine either. I bet Tech or s70 can help you more then me. I tried, just couldnt see nothin, maybe a PI or mag sensor thats hidden in door frame or panel. Sorry I couldnt help more.

The switch is inside the door latch assembly. You will need to replace the entire assembly.

Well, I ordered the lock motor (ordered it on Monday, and had it Tuesday!) and today, with the help of another website which detailed how to take apart the door I was able to install it. Aggravating like you wouldn't believe (the electric connector cables are unnecessarily short and a bitch-and-a-half to re-connect) but thanks to everyone who contributed here I was able to accomplish the task and save myself some cash. Good deal Jaws. Glad to hear you got it done. Yeah, car makers dont like to spend the extra 5 cents for an inch of extra wire. lol I know your pain. I wish I could have helped better.
