Coolant Issues
Hey guys, I've been following these forums for a while but decided to make an account because I had an issue this morning that I couldn't find described. Some background: I drive a 99' non-turbo s70. I've had previous issues with leaking coolant, but have fixed most of them. I've replaced the radiator, practically all the hoses, even bypassed the heater core until I can find the time and money to replace it. All this has led to a Volvo with no AC/heat, but no coolant leaks, until this morning.
I was pulling out of a driveway, when smoke/steam started billowing out of the engine bay. Not a little, a lot, to the point of it being able to see. Pulled back in the driveway as my coolant light came on. The reservoir had completely emptied in a couple of seconds, evidenced by the giant spot on the road and trail leading to the driveway. After a quick once over, I could not find the source of the leak. All the hoses I had replaced looked fine, after some feeling around I determined they were not leaking. Filled the reservoir with water, started it back up, and tried to pinpoint the leak. It seems to be dripping in the center of the car between the passenger and driver side, slightly behind the front wheels. It's now a slow leak, not seeming to have made much of an impact over the past hour or so. I have practically no idea what it is, my best guess is a water pump.
Has anyone had a similar issue or know what could have caused all of the coolant to leak in seconds before going back to a slow leak?
