Daytime Running Lights

Reading through the original window sticker on my '00 S70 GLT SE and it says car is equipped with Daytime Running Lights. I've never seen them on and I know that hi beam and lo beam lamps are good. Any idea why my daytimes dont work?

there is a little screw on the plate for the lite switch you can turn them on and off with, I turned mine off so as not to go thru bulbs.

Awesome, I always wondered what that little screw was for! Thanks!

I'm actually thinking about turning mine back on. It appears that black cars are not seen more than others. People walking out in front of them and pulling out in front of them because they are sometimes not seen in shadows at a glance. I've actually done it myself, steped right out in front of a black Corvette didn't see it in the shadows of the trees.

Thats why the Florida Highway Patrol uses black cars, so you dont see them using radar on side of road. They are tough to spot!

On my 06 S60 I have my daytime running lights turned on. IMHO I don't go through bulbs very fast, maybe replaced them twice in 90K miles.

That's kinda fast. I have gone 100,000 without changing any bulbs.

I stand corrected, I guess my point was more of a every 40K miles or roughly 2 years seemed like a good enough amount of time for me to get from a relatively inexpensive part.

But I do see your point. They definitely last longer if running lights are turned off

I go through bulbs at about 40k, always use DRL on any car that has them. The evidence of their effectiveness goes way back. Nothing rougher on bulb life than T-boning a pickup at an intersection because he didn't see you(while he was texting and eating a burger)

I agree. I'd rather someone burn bulbs than I walk in front of their car and get run over.
