Everything I Would Need To Do Basic Oil Change

So I have a 99 S70 with 151K miles and this is my first oil change i am doing myself. I usually take it to a shop, but i want to do it myself. The owner's manual is confusing to me because I don't know which viscosity to use. I live in Chicago where the winters are bad and the summers are kind of mild. Would 5W-30 Synthetic High Mileage be sufficient for year round use? Also, how much oil does my vehicle require?

Pretty much everything I would need to buy in order to do this myself would be much appreciated.

I think 5W30 would be fine. With the filter, 5 quarts leaves them a little low. You need 6. I use good but not OEM filters, but I may give the actual OEM filter a try. My S70 is a little clattery on startup. Mann #3517857 is supposedly the factory filter. They carry Mann at the store but I have always been a Purolator man. You probably need an oil filter wrench. I like the strap wrench kind, and the handle has to be jointed. for instance look at a lisle 53700. I have a two sizes that I bought 30 years ago, and I like them, but they may be better than the ones they make now, ha ha.

So basically 6 quarts of 5W-30 syn high mileage, I was gonna use a bosch oil filter, and a oil filter wrench from o reillys. Thanks!

If you can find a oil filter "socket" that matches flutes the filter you will be using, that will be a lot easier that a strap type oil filter remover. There is not much space to get the handle of the strap angled to obtain leverage. The only space is near the frame as the remainder of the filter is surrounded by the oil pan with marginal clearance.
