Default front upper spring seats

hi, i'm a recent owner,of a 98 s70 and am a new member. Found the post and response related to noises caused by faulty front upper spring seats. i did the check suggested and the nut turns easily. is it likely i also need new struts...how do i check them...in the days of shocks, i could bounce the car and if it bounced more than once- bad shocks. does that work on struts as well? another post discussed changing the strut, spring, etc. as a whole assy...are they available like that? really glad i found the forum...thanks for being here!

Default RE: front upper spring seats

I had the same problem with mine and I just did the spring seats and the sway bar end links. You do more than that and you are getting into much more money. The test you do for shocks is the same for struts. The independent Volvo shop I use here says they rarely change the struts on these cars, unless they are leaking. I have three cars that are basically the same with 175K, 150K and 130K and none of them have had the struts changed. When I do change them I will be getting Billstein touring based on what I have read on this and other forums. I highly doubt the springs need to be changed.
