Fuel filter safety

I just replaced my fuel filter tonight. I thought the lines were easier to take off than put on, which is not what some guides described. However, this feeling was be/c I'm just not sure if I put the lines on sufficiently. The return line, when I slid the collar up, was flush with the filter. The in line didn't seem to go in quite as much.

The car didn't want to start right away, which freaked me out a bit. I figured the lines were depressurized, so I tried again, and it started up fine. I drove for a few miles, filled up the tank and then drove home for a total of about 5 miles. Everything seems OK so far.

I'm going on a roadtrip tomorrow, which is why I opted to do it tonight. Should I look under the car periodically to see if the lines look ok?

Yea, check them, but it sounds normal the situation.

Try not to do major work on your car before a trip. Give yourself at least a week of driving it around town before you do something major and jet out of town. Unless it is something that is broken. Some things can wait till you get back.
