Heated Seat Wiring

1998 S70

The seat heater has stopped working in the driver side of my S70. The other driver side seat electronics are functional. Can anybody help me with the wiring? It looks fairly complicated. Would a picture of the wiring help?

Thanks

RE: Heated Seat Wiring

The wiring isn't complicated. Most likely your seat heater pad has worn out, as in, somewhere inside, the heating coil has burned out. It could be a fuse (which I assume you've probably checked), or it could bethe switch, which doesn't go too often. A simple test of it being the switch is to pop out the driver and passenger side and swap them. To test the heating pad, you need to use a multimeter (you can get a cheapo one for $20 or less). Set it to test continuity, unplug your seat heater (under the front edge of the lower seat cushion if its like my 850, and I believe it is), then test at the plug for the pad. If you get the tone, your pad is good, but if there's a break in the heating coil somewhere, you'll get no tone as the circuit isn't complete.
