Help me find my Radio Code please ...
Hi. it's my dad's car. it's an 1998 Volvo V70 gta.. can a good soul help me/him finding the radio code. I can provide the VI if needed. thank you in advance
how can I find it for free. I am afraid my dealer will ask for money... thanks stef. Montreal. |
Dealer will not ask for money. They will likely demand proof of ownership but shouldn't demand money.
It can usually be found on a card in the owners manual papers. When you do find it, I suggest you write it on the passenger side sun visor mirror flap. I'm trying to start a trend so these things will be found easier. |

would someone know if I tell the VI ? thanks for your help stef |
Calling them will not help you, they want to see the title in person and they will enter the VIN# off of the title into there computer and pull your radio code. The dealers have never asked me for money when giving me my codes, this is something they offer for free. If you have your book that came with the car, there should be a small card the size of a credit card in the book and it will have a four digit code on it and that will be your radio code.Good luck.

Take the serial number of the radio and multiply that number by pi (3.1415926). Then, divide by 7, add 45. Take the first four numbers in the answer to the above and that is your radio code.

Not even close...

it's a lot of work to divide the number by 7 , and I am doing this by hand. I just can't find the end of it....
I sure hope you are not joking. I have been doing this for 3 hours now... but I am a hard worker...I know I will succeed eventually... ho well, back to the pencil... stef. |
got my code.
thanks to all please delete stef. |
The Volvo dealers near me will give you the codes over the phone. I just call them, give them the serial number of the radio, and they give me the code. I've never had any problems. I think they realize that the only people who could possibly be inclined to steal an OEM Volvo stereo would be another Volvo owner, and even that is highly unlikely.

My local dealer in Dartmouth, MA (Barry's...now out of business) charged me $10 for my code. Wrote it in the users guide and with a sharpie inside of the glove compartment.
|
Another handy place where it has no chance of being ripped (Or falling out), is the fuse box cover.
Had my mechanic write it down there (on the white fuse guide) when I bought the car from my Brother. |
The Volvo dealer in Dallas gave me the code over the phone at no charge. I was a 4 digit code. I just wrote it down as a phone # in my manual. 972 221 xxxx

A dealer can get the code from Volvo of North America without a vin. Just the model # and SN off the radio. I got one the other daylike that. Wasn't even a Volvo dealer.

You should try the free Volvo code generator!
