1. The clamps that come with the kit are the best, but if you don't have the tool to install them, normal "worm" type clamps will work, just don't overtighten them.
2. Make sure you clean out the holes in the block where the oil separator (also called an oil trap) attaches. Use a skinny bottle brush and some solvent, and make sure that the holes are cleaned out all the way down.
3. Change the oil afterward- your oil will be contaminated with cleaning solvent and carbon/ grit from the cleaning process.
While you're at it, change the oil cap seal as well. It's probably leaking.
