A list of things that needs doing, but DIY or not?

Hi

I have noticed a list of things that needs to be done to my car, but just wondering if i should get it done or do it myself, I have a rough idea of how to do all of these things, but i don't have specialist tools, or ever a ramp, everything will have to be done using DIY tools and jacks, just wondering, which of these should i do myself, and which of these i shouldn't, thanks if anyone can help!!

- NewBrake pads, adjusting (including parking brake), Cleaning of brake system (flushing)
- Oil pan O-ring replacement (engine tapping)
- Rear shock absorbers (replacing both sides)

i think there were more but i ll have to check back.

Thanks

the shocks I would have a shop do, the otehr stuff you can prolly do on your own.

All of those aren't bad to replace.

good to hear that, thanks

my worry is about the O rings, i read the instructions on the other page, haven't actually looked at the car, i m just worried that without the ramp, i willmess something up underneath the car, what would you advice me to watch out for??

I consider myself to be quite a good DIY mechanic, but just don't want to get started and have to leave the job half way through really, any good advice? thanks again!

You can do the o-rings without dropping the subframe on the S70.
You just need to have the car up in the air some.

oh really? how can i get a copy of vadis from here? thanks

I will have a look at the car today, because the instruction on the other page about the o ring seem easy enough for me to do myself, so i m going to give it a go, i think....... :P

thanks

This 850 post may be of some use:

If you do not have a ramp or a pair of jackstands, I wouldn't mess with the oil pan & its components. Also, using a spring compressor requires utmost attention or it will free from the compressor and fly right at you[:@]. When I do my suspension work, I myself usually use a pair of Blue-Point (a part of Snap-on that sells tools made by the 3rd parties) spring compressor, plus rent out another set at an AutoZone for free (you pay initially but as long as you return it clean and within 3-4 weeks, they will refund the full amount) and usea total of 3 compressors just to make it 99% safe.

Anyway, I would read some posts in the 48928 thread.
