motor mount replacement

Just ordered all 5 motor mounts for my 2000 S70 Fwd. The replacement of the top and bottom torque mounts seem pretty straight forward, and the one under the pulley too. As for the front and rear hydraulic mounts, they look like they could be troublesome. From what I can see, it would seem that the easiest way to replace them would be to jack up the motor/trans from the bottom, just enough to get them off the mount, then remove/loosen the mount bracket from the motor, then swap the mount. Sound about right? I'm doing this in my driveway and don't have an engine holding fixture, so it seems as if this will be the only way to do it short of droping the subframe. Anyone else done this or have a better way?

That is about right. I did mine in my driveway. Let me tell you though the motor has to go alot higher than you think. Also if you pull the cooling fan assembly it will make the front one a little easier.

Yeah I see what you mean about cooling fan. I know what you're saying about how the motor would have to come up a lot to lift out the mount, that's why I was thinking if I unbolted the bracket that bolts to the motor then rests atop the mount, it might be more work than jacking it up high, but safer than jacking it up high. My biggest fear is that if i don't remove the brackets, I know I wont have to jack the motor very high to remove the old mounts, that i would have to go much higher to slip in the new ones. The trans is like 1/8'' from resting on the subframe on the drivers side, and the cables that keep the mounts from over stretching fell off a while ago.

That might work for you. Give it a shot and let us know.
