No power when I press the gas. Trans?/Fuel pump?
Hello! I have a 1998 volvo s70 that is currently experiencing a problem. Ok, so i start the car and it runs fine. I put it in drive then take it out on the road. The car starts chugging then when I hit the gas nothing happens. If I let the car stop then the engine idles very rough and sometimes stops all together. Sometimes it also slips into winter mode by itself. After about two or three times doing this it starts running and driving fine. Can anyone give me a guess as to what the problem could be?

You did NOT answer 1/2 of the questions I asked above. Hard to figure out what your problem is when you don't give details.
CEL = Check Engine Light. Well, that light is on for a reason. The problem with leaving it on forever, you don't get a warning of NEW PROBLEMS.
Scan the ecu and fix the problems related to your new problem. AGAIN, when was the last tune up??? Plugs wires, cap, rotor, filters, etc. I'm seeing more and more of these post about "it runs fine until I press on the gas in gear" and usually the same deal, 14 year old wires that can no longer carry spark under a load.
I might just change my signature to include the following: Cars need maintenance, for miles and AGE. A 15 year old piece of rubber is as worn as a 4 year old piece of rubber with 200,000 miles on it!!! That goes for any moving part, electrical part, parts carring fluid, etc.

Hello! I have a 98 S70 GLT 160,000 miles and lost acceleration while on the interstate. Pulled over put the car in park and back into drive but it would not go over 20 mph it eventually stopped pulling. I had it towed to the mechanic last night. Could this be transmission problem? Location NC, temp 60 deg, abs light is on, last tune up unknown.
