...and now the window fell off
Sounds like my drivers side window fell off its guide - has complete free play within the door. Motor sounds like it still works. I want to get rid off this car now.

RE: ...and now the window fell off
The blocks between the window and regulator might have broke.
Does the window still go up and down? If so then it might only be the rear window channel. |
RE: ...and now the window fell off
Ok, Dad and I removed the door panel and removed the 8 10mm screws holding back the scissor mechanism. Looks like it's a "ball and socket" type situation. (where the "ball" is on the scissor mechanism and the "sockets" are on tracks fastened to the window. One of the green sockets is lightly broken. It is the one on the LONGER track. I'm guessing we will need to replace that part. We also found a cotter-pin looking piece. Where does that go?? Also, how do you get the ball-and-socket situation back together? it seems that you should just have to push them back in, but we we're not able to do this. What should be removed to make this task easier?

Yes replace the wheel I would do both since it is already apart.
The cotter pin goes on the wheel. Yes they pop back together. Sometimes it is a pain. I sometimes use channel locks but you have to be VERY CAREFUL. I have seen people break windows trying to use the channel locks to pop them back in. |
