Potential New Owner

Hello,

I am looking at potentially picking up a 1998 S70 with an indicated <100k and asking price of 2k.

The car is cosmetically clean, I'll see how it looks mechanically when I drive it. Assuming that's all good, would the S70 be a good car?

That's a heavy question, but I live in the south and have a rundown '85 Porsche that I picked up 6 years ago and it has lasted me well with only a few weekends per year that I needed to work on it.

I'm moving to Canada for a year this fall, so I'm hoping for a good reliable tank that can (at the very least survive the drive up north) and keep me alive in snow (with proper tires). Ideally I don't want to have to do anything major repair/maintenance wise for my time in Canada, because I don't know if I'll have a proper garage to work on it there.

Would the S70 in general, and hopefully this one specifically, be my reliable tank?

Thanks

pretty low miles - sounds like a good ride to me. Plus it does not have the troublesome etm.

They are incredibly reliable. The 99 has a reputation for being incredibly unreliable. It's amazing what difference that one year makes.
