Default Rims for snow tires on s70 T5 SE

Hey all,
First post!
Have '98 T5, and looking to buy rims to have snow tires put on.

Have found a good price on Naiad 15" rims...but getting a bit of run-around on whether they'll be the best choice. Bolt pattern and PCD are the same as what's on the car now.

But there are 2 issues I'm hoping someone might have some input on.

1) the offset on the rims I have now is 43mm, and on the new ones it's 49mm. Problematic?

2) the manual says it recommends 15" rims for winter tires on the s70, but the guy at my local tire shop says his specs recommend the s70 turbo still needs a 16" rim (even for winter tires) because of the brakes being bigger. Any thoughts on this?

Any insights appreciated....

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It really doesn't matter about 15" or 16" wheels, as long as you can get the proper size tires. If I were you I would get a set of wheels from any mid '90's Volvo, they will all work. 850, S70, or 960 wheels.

Not sure on the 99-00 S70 T5s, but the 98's did not come with bigger breaks. 49mm no big deal, as long as you run 5mm spacers front and rear. I have 16x7x49 steel wheels with 205 55 16 snows. No issues.
