S70 Transmission issue- PNP?

Hello everyone, so I'm new to Volvos, just bought my first one, a 1999 S70 GLT, a few days ago. I started having an issue with it just a day after I bought it where the arrow light in the dash would start flashing, and then all of a sudden the car would not want to go into gear. Mostly happened starting from a stop sign etc. If I really gave it throttle it would start moving but the RPMs would shoot way up. It would eventually shift if I recall. Most of the time I would pull over asap and if I rowed the gear selector back and forth the car would work again after I started it up. Obviously the car was off when I row the gear selector. Point being it started getting more frequent and couldn't drive it anymore. I did a little research and was pointed to a bad PNP switch. I just replaced that today. So after I started the car with the new PNP it wouldn't shift out of first gear in the drive positon. I made sure the switch was aligned and it does go into all the respective postions on the gear selector correctly. I also can't imagine why the PNP would dictate why the car would or would not shift. Knocking the selector into 3, would let the car shift into the first three gears. But drive was no good. I thought maybe the computer needed to be reset so I disconnected the battery and tried again. What do you know it shifted fine. But once the car was turned off and restarted no good. I'm very confused and not sure where to go- It should be noted that the ABS, STC, BRAKE lights also do come on and off intermittently and my odometer and speedometer stop working with them. I think this is an ABS control module that is shot, but a separate issue? Thanks again everyone!

Don't think so, the big W button on the gear selector is not depressed.
