I was cleaning out my air filter today when I came across a wire that was just hanging out. I have no clue where it was originally attached to, but its coming from the air filter or maybe even under, its a small hose under the really big one connected to the air filter, I attached a picture..anyone know what it is and if it will cause any problems?

 

If you are asking about black vacuum hose it goes onto opposite side of air box. It goes onto upper nipple on that side of air box.

i see a place where it could be, but it seems to have broken off, whats the use of it anyway?

 

Not sure exactly, I think it brings vacuum to valve that open and close gate between hot and cold air that enter air box.
There should be connector on the end of it that goes onto nipple on the air box. Connector is L shape made from plastic and with age can broke off. I glued mine back together with super glue and secured it with blue electrical tape.
