T5 ECU Swap?

I have a 1999 S70 awd. I found a cheap ECU unit from a T5 for $175. I was wondering if it would be possible to swap out the T5 ECU for mine and get some extra boost and better timings.

Would I have to flash the T5 unit at all or can I just swap it and go. I was thinking that there might be some kind of code on the ECU that has to match mine or else it wont work, is there something like that?

So basically what I want to know is, can I swap my ECU for an ECU from a T5?

Thanks.

RE: T5 ECU Swap?

On a 1999 no you cannot. The ECU is programmed to the car and part of a small network.
Once the computer is programmed to the car thats all it can be used in. Unless in the last year to so Volvo changed some of the programming in them to make the interchangible but I doubt it.

Thanks for the fast reply, I guess I will have to shell out the extra cash to get mine flashed.

There is still one thing im curious about, would it be possible if I get someone to read my ECU and then flash whatever has to match onto the T5 ECU?

Thanks again.

It doesn't work that way, you just get a modded flash for your ECU and your engine, you will gain nearly 30 hp and a TON of torque
