Transmission shift delay on 2-3 shift

Its a 2000 S70 2.4L Naturally Aspirated with the 5-speed aisin automatic.

When I'm driving it very lightly, (20% or less throttle) I notice it has a delayed 2-3 upshift.

The 1-2 shift normally happens at about 1600 rpm or about 8 mph.
The 2-3 upshift doesn't occur until a minimum of 16 mph or about 2000 rpm.
The 3-4 upshift happens at about 19 or 20 mph or about 1600 rpm.
Just for reference, the 4-5 upshift doesn't occur until a minimum of 44 mph or about 2000 rpm, but I think that could be normal.

It behaves like this regardless of engine temperature.

The delayed shift only happens when I'm accelerating very slowly.
If I give it about 35% throttle or more and hold, all the shifts are within 100 rpm of each other.

When I'm accelerating slowly downhill, it is delayed even more. It shifts into 3rd, then pretty much instantly shifts to 4th.

So, is this normal or could there be a problem? I have heard rumors that this transmission is prone to issues with the 2-3 shift. By the way, it's not a harsh shift, just delayed.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds pretty normal to me. However, unless it has ben done recently, it would not hurt to check the transmission fluid level, and change it out along with a fresh filter.

Okay, thank you so much. I will definitely be replacing the fluid and filter soon, just have to get the supplies.

If I remember correctly, that transmission takes a special type of fluid. Make sure you get the correct type.

You indeed remember correctly. It takes Mobil 3309 automatic transmission fluid.
