Turbo Conversion
 

I have a base S70 automatic without a turbo and 133,000miles. It runs great and is reliable. I bought it when I wanted something safe and reliable but didn't have enough money for a T5. Now I do (if I sold this plus my money).

The thing is, I really like this car and it hasn't given me any problems. Plus, if I sold it I would have to go through the trouble of selling it, and the trouble of finding a nice car. It took me a long enough to find this car.

I've heard of people spending hundreds to get their T5's sorted and at stage 0. I am thinking maybe it would make sense turboing my car that I already know is sorted. That way I don't have to buy something that could potentially be a money pit. I am not looking for big power. Maybe I could find a wrecked S70 GLT and swap the turbo goodies from there onto my engine. What do you think?

I am having a hard time finding these posts on the S70 forum compared to the 240/740 forum. Maybe these cars are still too new to do turbo conversion (that is pick and find parts at a junkyard to stay OEM).

HAHA, sell yours a find a turbo model. Your going to spend more money then your car is worth to turbo it. Trust me on this.

Even if you buy used parts from a wrecked turbo model your using USED parts which in the end will fail far quicker then new parts would. In theory that is anything is possible but you know what I mean, hopefully.

You'd need more then you think.

-Turbo
-Intercooler
-Downpipe
-Vacuum lines
-Turbo hoses
-Charge pipes
-Oil and or water lines for the turbo
-Boost gauge
-ECU tune (Which is going to be the most important thing and the best way to do it is a dyno tune, which cost big big bank and a lot of time)
-ETC...

Even with used parts your looking at $5k+ more then likely. It truly isn't worth turboing a N/A. Unless you have the time and money to do it right.
