Default Vibration at stop lights while in gear

Vibration at stop lights while in gear but it stops vibrating when placed in neutral, it only does it when I come to a stop, after driving. It will not do it in the drive after backing out of garage. I have changed motor mounts (not all) top round on e and bottom passenger side, It did take a very hard bash on the bottom on a recent trip the vibration seems to come from the right side. I have have changed the belt, new plugs. No vibration at any speed or while moving. I think its the transmission I don't know why I just think it.

The hydraulic mounts might be bad.

Have you replaced the Transmission/Touque mount? It's under the car, has 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

My 01 C70 has been slipping while driving it runs smooth sometime but now when i put it in drive it makes a loud vibrating noise. I'm thinking its the transmission gone bad but I hope its the ETC that's opening up slowly but the light hasn't came on in awhile. I put a bottle of lucus trans slip to help it but it gotten worse. What would be a good price to replace and fix transmission.

I had the same problem and it vibrates under intense acceleration. It is the upper engine mount you want to replace it with a high density rubber its pretty cheap to repair and easy to fix. it is visible under the roof towards the back. The picture http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0132_large.jpg is under the hood but the mount is to the right.

Motor mounts on old cars are a point of neglect. You can inspect them, if bad, replace them.

Interesting. Mine has been doing the exact same thing ever since I bought it, too.

I've replaced the passenger side engine mount and the upper torque mount, with no real improvement other than a lengthening of the time sitting at the stop light before the heavy vibration "settles in." It feels like everything is normal when I first come to a stop, but the engine kind of slowly "sinks" down to rest on the frame, and that's when I feel the vibration.

But I took the car in to the local Volvo guru, and he said my front and rear hydraulic mounts are likely fine. He says my issue is that the internal cushioning of my driver's side front axle has deteriorated. Frankly, I think that's BS. Zero cusioning = immediate vibration, not a slow settling in to vibration.

So, that being the case... I popped the hood and really looked at the engine from the front today. Sure enough, it does look like the entire engine is leaning toward the driver's side. My problem is, I have no clue where the driver's side engine mount is. Some people on here say there's a mount on/near the steering column, but I have no clue what they're talking about.

So on the '99 GLT (Vin: 56+), I can only count the mounts as:

1) Front hydraulic
2) Rear hydraulic
3) Passenger side rubber
4) Upper torque strut
5) Lower torque buckle

What the F&#k holds up the driver's side of the engine? That seems to be where this problem lives...

There are a few sub-frame mounts.

However, the upper torque mount and the transmission mount hold the drivers side in place for the most part. I thought there was a mount over there like the drivers side but I can't find it on the ipd site.

Are any of your mounts poly? They do transmit vibration a lot.

@RSPI: The mounts I bought were good ole fashioned black rubber.

Referring to your picture... I've seen it before. But 1 thing I've never been able to figure out is: What (& where on the frame) is the mount labelled "J"?

i inspected the upper transmission torque mount and the bushing was completely shot. ive read its a real pain to replace the bushing but ipd has the complete assembly for 50 bucks, to me its worth the money and just do a direct swap. the previous owner bypassed the pcv and routed the hose to the cold air intake before the air filter, next project is to put that back to stock ... need some warmer weather though. ill post back with the results of torque mount results. i love this car, currently getting 33 + mpg.

How's it going with this? This vibration is getting to me! REALLY looking forward to reading more posts. The dealer replaced an engine mount on mine, but it might need more of them replaced...

How long ago was that? Which one was replaced? Did it help?

Default did not help

I believe it was the one closest to the driver, bottom side. I'd check, but I'm having the car checked out by another mechanic and then will get back to the guy to solve this issue.

The most common failed mount is the one at the front of the motor, behind the passenger front wheel. B in the image above.

Any idea how hard it would be to change out all the motor mounts? I have a mechanic for a brother-in-law, and a willingness to dig in once Spring hits and skinned knuckles won't hurt so badly. (I'll be digging in to my Suzuki 1200 around the same time, so once the wrenches are out, they may as well get full use).

They are not to bad except for the rear hydrolic mount. The hydrolic mounts are tougher.
