Default Warning lights lighting

I have a 1999 volvo s70 with 95,000 miles. It has a variety of warning lights which light from time to time. They are the following lights: ABS, check engine, brake light, mode"w" light, and SRS light. Also the speedometer and odometer guages will randomly quite working. The volvo dealership has informed me that the ABS module has an internal fault and will cost $1,036 to repair. I am driving the car and its performance does not seem to be affected by these lights. I have three questions. Can I continue to ignore these lights? Is my performance being affected even though it is unapparent to me? Finally, is there a fix short of $1,036. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

No you shouldn't ignore it, it will only get worse. Kinda like a marriage, ignore the warning signs & you will end up divorced.

Have you done a search "ABS Module" in the S70 or 850 sections? If you do, you will likely find the directions to DIY.

Yeah, Volvo's fix is to replace the ABS module with a new one of the same flawed design. There's lots of companies that rebuild the ABS modules for around $100 or less, and they're cake to change. BBA-reman is the company I often use. They usually do it on an exchange basis- you remove your module and send it to them, they rebuild it and send it back, usually in about 3 days. You can drive the car without the module, you'll just have no speedometer and the lights will be on. I think the last one I sent to BBA cost $60, and they have a lifetime warranty, too.

I agree completely. BBA is the way to go.
