yet another ac question
 

Basics... basics basics basics....

I may sound like a moron for asking this but here goes...

OK. So I have checked out all previous discussions about ac systems and have a pretty good idea where to start but I need some help with locations. My compressor clutch is not engaging and I am looking to jump the system in order to determine if I have a bad compressor or my refrig is low. Where and how do I do this? And, if possible, any pics or diagrams that anyone may be able to scan and send would be faboo. Thanks again you guys, this forum is a lifesaver and ya'all rock!

Sorry no pics but here goes.
Open the hood and look on Your left side(right side of car) you will see 2 pipes coming from inside the car out. You will see a sensor in one of them not far from where it comes out. Unplug and jump the connection with a peice of wire or a paper clip and see if the compressor kicks on. If it does then the freon level is low.
If it doesn't turn on then check for power at that same plug.

By the way this is all with the car running and the A/C switch on.
