07 s80 v8 awd Dstc and abs light on.

Hey every9ne, I just picked up this beautiful 07 S80 v8 awd, one very elderly owner, just had a $2000 service couple of months ago but has been sitting unused for at least 6 months other than going to service by the son of this gentlemen. Car runs awesome but when you first start (ABS light on, stays on) you can tell that the Dstc is acting up, making weird grinding sounds, car not willing to move much. But after a few seconds if I turn the ignition off then back on the Dstc light comes on but the car starts driving fine. Any ideas on where to start? I am pretty mechanically inclined as far as replacing parts so if it's something simple and common I'd like to take a shot at it. Thanks for any replies.

Get yourself an iSoft scan tool and check the codes so you know where to look. Going to Autozone and asking then to get codes for you will not work since all they can check is OBDII codes. Just picked up an S80 V8 myself from a guy who kept in in his garage with blankets over it. 67k miles. Sweet rides.

Thanks for the reply. A friend has all the scanners, I'll try to get to him as soon as I can. But in the meantime I've got a temporary solution: I've pulled the AWD fuse from the trunk and the car has transformed into a switch watch. Very smooth but with no traction control and no rear wheel drive it roars and spins the front wheels like there is no tomorrow. I hope pulling the AWD fuse won't hurt anything.
