1999 and 2000 S80

Is it possible to drop an engine from a 2000 S80 2.8 or 2.9 into a 1999 S80 T6.......... could the engine fit right in or does it need some modifications?

As long as it is a T6 motor should be a direct swap.
Did yours blow?

I don't think so. But I was in Palm Springs, CA for the New Years and the second day there.... I drove the car for about 45 mins stopped for about 15 mins, turned on the car got a message saying something URGENT, turned it off in less than 20 secs, 15mins later I tired to turn it on and nothing. And I even dissconnected the battery. So I just towed the car to some random gas station. Two days later I bought a 07 Aero...Yesterday some dude went to go see it and told me that there was a puddle of engine oil on the passenger side. I have no clue what that could be from. And some other guy called me today that he has an engine that he can drop but I don't recall if it was a 2.8 or 2.9, but I do know he said a 2000 S80. In the case he wants to drop a 2.9 is there modifications needed?

The 2.9 is a non turbo motor and the 2.8 is a turbo motor.

There would be to much to put the non turbo motor in. The block would have to be drilled and other things. Also the non turbo motor is not built for boost.

I would see if they can find the leak and see if the motor seized. It is funny that before checking the car out good he wants to sell you a motor.

Yeah I know that the 2.8 is a turbo engine and the 2.9 is not. The car is just at ashop for the mean while but it's not being looked at by a mechanic. Some guy wants to buy the car and he wanted to know if he could drop an engine from a 2000 S80 into a 1999 S80. But I don't recall if it was a 2.8 or 2.9. In the case of it being a 2.9 would it need some modications?

Yes the block is not set up for the turbo's there is no holes for the return lines from the turbo's to the block. Also the car has different valves than the turbo motor. The compression ratio is also different.

He can do what he wants but it will be alot of work.

If I were him I would try to sell the 2.9 and buy a 2.8 and drop the proper motor in there. 99,00,and 01 2.8 should all be the same.
