2000 s80 abs

I just replaced the abs module (from abs-reman) and now instead of intermittent abs/brake dash lights on, they are on all the time along with an occasional check engine light. I have a scantool (OBDLINK) and have clicked on reset the codes but it does not seem to clear the ABS lights.

I have also just ordered a new throttle body from XeMODeX since it looks like a better solution to my throttle body issues which are irregular throttle modulation shortly after the car warms up a bit.

Are these two related? Any way to clear the ABS light for good or did I possibly get a bad re-manufactured unit?

Thanks for any help.

I dont know about your abs light, but I read on another forum that volvo has had a recall on throttle bodies for the s80. You might want to look into that :D

throttle body

I read about the throttle body recall but it sounds like my 2000 would not qualify anymore and they just replace it with one that would have the same issue shortly after replacement.

I should have mentioned that I recently took it off and cleaned it thoroughly with no improvement. Thankfully it's pretty easy to take on/off.

I would get the ABS codes pulled and cleared.

abs

For the abs I did come across this - still valid?

For resetting, I used my obdlink scantool - P1333 - as soon as I clear it, the code immediately comes back. I tried disconnecting the battery for over 30 min and that did not help.

Is there another way to clear the codes/reset?

I called BBA Reman (where I got the abs module from) and they say wheel sensor - any way to test these and are they hard to get at/replace?

Are you only reading engine codes or can you read ABS codes as well?
If you can read ABS codes can you also see real time data?

I think this is a basic scan tool (www.scantool.net) that may not be specific to ABS - I've never seen real time abs data although I can see real time data for all kinds of other sensors like MAF, O2, throttle, etc...
This is the exact scan tool I have:

UPDATE on ABS and Throttle Body

I just got done with what appears to be a successful test drive with the new throttle body. Drove around with the newly installed throttle body from xeMODex and all of the throttle hesitation seems to be gone!:D

While I had the air cleaner stuff out I was going to yank the abs module back off and see if I had something installed wrong. Turns out that the data cable plug was not seated all the way into the socket which was why the car was throwing the P1333 code to my non-volvo specific scan tool. I got it seated down tight and the abs/stc/brake lights went out but the check engine light was still on. I hooked my scantool back up and read P1633 which was reporting there had been a brake related code prior - I reset/cleared the check engine light and watched the guages for a few min and no new codes came through!!!:D

It has been a good afternoon - both issues fixed.

side note on abs data plug: I was super careful taking off the data plug since I knew 10yr old plastic would likely be brittle. In spite of my caution the hinged cover practically fell apart in my hands when I unhooked it so when I went to re-attach it to the abs module, I had to manually pull the little plastic sliders on each side of the plug instead of them moving along with the hinged cap. Turns out that the plug will not seat properly unless you also push them in manually as you are pushing the plug on the socket which is what the hinged cap would do for you if it was not broken. For reference - the generic P1333 Volvo code seems to be indicating the ABS module is not even connected.

Hope this helps someone else.
