2000 S80 T6 Tune-up, Cabin Filter and Air Filter Housing
2000 Volvo S80 T6
Miles: 70,000. California Miles: 65,000. Wisconsin Miles: 5,000. I am the 3rd owner. Tune-up: Besides a #30 torx bit for the spark plug cover and a 10mm socket for the coil packs, any other tools needed? Do the coil packs utilize spark plug boots? If so should they be replaced? Spark plugs: what are the best plugs to use? Any long life platinum or iridium type plugs? How are the after market plugs? Cabin Filter: Where is it located? Can I buy it from someone besides a dealer? Air Filter Housing: The air filter housing lid/top does not fit properly. It looks like the housing is warped or misaligned? Any ideas? My 99 S80 T6 had the same problem. Oil Change: Where is the oil filter located? What tools will I need to change the oil? Service Manual: Does anyone have a service manual for a 2000 S80 T6 for sale or where I can buy one? If you do have one can you sell a copy of it or copies of it (e.g. Tune-up, etc) Thanks for the help :D |
RE: 2000 S80 T6 Tune-up, Cabin Filter and Air Filter Housing
Spark plugs get the Platinums.
The Cabin filter is under the dash on the passenger side.Look in the S80 for there is instructions on replacing in there. A tip for getting the air filter housing in properly.Remove the lid all the way.The center hole in the box has 2 little tabs hanging down.Cut them off. Then it will fit in there easier. You might have to stick something behind the box to secure it while putting the lid on. The oil filter is under the black housing on the passenger side in the oil pan.You will need a special socket to remove it. |

Does anyone have any experience with spark plugs that work well in a S80 T6 and spark plugs that make a S80 T6 run poorly? I’m looking for brands or plug technology. When changing the spark plugs will I need anything else (e.g. spark plug boots, etc.). Does anyone know what type of tool is needed for changing the oil and what company makes the tool? |

Bosh Platinum plugs are the best for the engine.
IM not sure who makes the socket for the oil filter housing.I know the tool guys sell them. To replace the plugs you will need to remove the plastic pipes across the top of the head. Then you will need to remove the screws holding the plastic cover with a t-30.Then remove the 10mm screws and then the plugs. |

RE: 2000 S80 T6 Tune-up, Cabin Filter and Air Filter Housing
Since you will be replacing the spark plugs, another thing I would suggest is to wrap the plastic wire conduit with electrical tape. The plastic gets brittle from the heat/age, and cracks easily, exposing the wires going to the coils. These wires could short against the engine valve cover.

My S60 air filter also has a warped plastic air box.
Is the only solution to replace the box? |
Air Filter Cover warped
My 04 s80 t6 cover also appears warped but its not what you do is line up all three tabs to the holes then take a flat nose screwdriver to the middle tab and pry the screw driver toward you all three tabs lock in place.
