RE: 2001 S 80 Problems
Hello diehard, I too have a 2001 S80 but mine is a T-6. I have had it for almost a year and have had no issues. I do see I will need to have the oil pan seals done due to some oil leaks, it is not too bad yet.
I will need to do the timing belt thing and now I am having some issues with the brake pedal being too low. Was that the reason you replaced thebrake booster in your car? Anyways, no big problems so far (knock on wood) regards, Jim |
RE: 2001 S 80 Problems
I'm the happy owner of a 2000 S80! I have had NO major issues, and outside of new brakes and some other routine maintenance I've had ZERO issues with my car.
I'm beyond happy with my Volvo, and I treat my car well and maintain it very well. The biggest thing I've seen is that when people try to work on these cars themselves, they tend to do more damage than good. I take my car to the shop and while it may cost me more up front they do the job right! |

How many miles do you have on your car?

RE: 2001 S 80 Problems
i have a 99 s80 non turbo and it has SO MANY problems. sorry man but theres more to come, one day my car just wasnt signaling and the windows stopped working, the next day it was fine, very weird! once the car started but would shift out or park. i changed everysingly fuse and eventualy it worked. my cylinder coil went once and a disgusting smell came out of the car and only 5cylinders were working. the computer said to drive slow. got it fixed the next day. when i realease my brake pedal i hear air being released from behind the brake, ver annoying sound, like air slowly being realeased from a baloon. theres been so many other problems that i cant even remember. the car sux of the line and its not bad not i highway, but its not even fast so that all these problems are worth it. ive got 195km on the car, bought it at 100 and its been problem after problem, i rip the hell out of my honda everyday and the only problems have been the timing belt making sounds and now the power window motors broken.

RE: 2001 S 80 Problems
I have a 1999 S80 T6 with 78K miles. In the last month I spent around $6000 to replace both the turbochargers, two really badtires and fixed a lot of miscelleneous leaks, seals, gaskets, link rod, spring seats, struts etc etc.
The Volvo dealer said; in his exact words- "1999 S80sare the worst cars ever built by Volvo. There is nothing in the car that cannot go wrong." More over, these cars have GM transmission, which are good to a max of 100K miles. Since 2007, Volvo switched from GM to BMW transmission. Cheers... |
we bought a t6 132k 2002 great car, super fast. i put a map sensor in it (50bucks) fixed that code, need a muffler (250) and some weird things inside- digital clock at start up goes ahead 2hrs by itself, and ds window is slow.
I am going to do 2 timing belts this spring, on this and a2001 xc70 |
6000$ ???? serious??
