2001 s80 sunroof
 

I just purchased the car and found the sunroof binding would not open . Well today I took out the glass to find 2) metal bars just sitting there. 1) in front and 1) in back. A closer look at the glass I can see they were attached to the glass with some kind of glue. My question is ,what kind of glue or epoxy should I use to reattach the bar's to the glass. Thanks for your time in advance.:confused:

Has this happened to anyone? where the tow bar's fell off the glass? What kind of glue should I use to re attach them?

Here's a diagram of the sunroof from Volvo. Which part are you referring to?

there are two metal strips that attach to the glass one on the front edge and one on back edge of the glass. your photo does not show the glass but #12 looks similar to the part.

Hello, I am also having problems with a 2001 P2 V70 sunroof - mine wont close. I have taken the motor our and was able to pull the glass forward to the closed position (at the front) but the rear of the glass is about an inch (30mm) below the roof so is noisy when driving. When the motor was in it made a terrible "graunching" noise when I tried to operate the roof. I tried another motor but that was the same. I guess something is jammed. Any suggestions anyone?.

2002 S80....anyone have a link to a tutorial for removal/install of sunroof/shade and glass? mine is stuck open and I suspect the guides on the shade a broken...makes heck of a scraping noise when opening/closing....and now the darn glass won't close all the way!

any help would be appreciated....

The 2 metal bars are for ridigity SP of the sunroof , not shown in diagram, part of the glass the dealer I went to will not reattach bars, but will sell new glass with bar for 700.00. I was told many Volvo running around with those bars missing.

I used double sided tape used for body molding to reattach mine . Seems to be doing the job well.

might have to take the entire sunroof assembly out? I saw a video on youtube about removing the sunshade.

on the glass-There are some little...I guess you could say slotted pieces of metal on both sides of the track (or at least on my 99' s80 and that piece of metal can come loose I know because I've looked at 3 different sunroof assemblies and they were all jiggly. They control the glass when it goes up in the 'vent' position or whatever you wanna call it.

But if it's grinding.... if you're referring to the sunshade, maybe the little sunshade guides. They have a piece of lead on the end that comes off, then it's just a piece of steel grinding into your alunimum sunroof assembly.
