2004 Headlights

I bought my first Volvo last week and wanted to ask about upgrading the headlights. I don't have the HID lights but want to install them. Can I just get the bulbs or do I need to replace the entire headlamp? Any suggestions on brands either? I'd like to install Xenon's that look somewhat like the BMW headlights or even the original factory Volvo HID bulbs. Its a 2004 Volvo S80, 2.5 Trim.

Thanks,

JB

Welcome to "Club 80"...lol

Some time ago I did the same thing. Installation was easy. Just take the old bulbs out hook up the snap wiring. The only real issue with using the kits from www.sharphid.com is the bulb warning light that comes on in the dash. Just modify the CEM and the warning went away.

Also get some LED bulbs for the two parking lights as well....

Let me know if ya need some help. I have a ton of pictures from when I did mine.

I forgot the type of bulb for the LED. I think it's a W5W equivalent...

Hey man, I'm working with John at Sharp HID and we are having a really hard time with my HID upgrade in my S80. I'm running 55W with the Bulb out Cancellers pre-ballast and everytime I turn the car on the lights come on and then 10 seconds later, the right side goes out followed by the left and then the warning comes up on the display. You mentioned you modified the CEM, how? Was this a dealer trip?

The lights are currently disconnected as they will not stay on.

I found that the cancelers don't work on my car for some reason. I found a fix that has been working for some time with no issues. I would suggest buying a extra CEM just in case. I think they are about twenty bucks.

Also make sure that the associated fuses and CEM are clean and not burnt.

Ah, I saw this before, however in 2005, the CEM as referenced in the picture doesn't exist anymore, to the best of my knowledge (and research).
