2004 T6 electrical problems
 

I bought this 2004 T6 136000 miles back in February and it's been great until the weather started getting warmer. I was driving on the first hot day of the summer and my gauge cluster cut out, when I got home I noticed my window and steering wheel controls didn't work. It's happened a few times and I started paying more attention, I can hear relays clicking under the dash before it stops working.
sometimes I will get ABS warning lights before sometimes I won't.

Today I was driving and I heard the relay clicks but the gauge cluster stayed working and the radio went out.

I've recently become aware that the gauge clusters are prone to failure but I feel like that wouldn't account for all the issues I'm experiencing.

This only seems to happen when the temp if over 75ish but that could just be a coincidence.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also if the gauge cluster is the problem can it be replaced with one from a donor car without a visit to but dealership, I am quite a few hours from any volvo dealer.

Your first step would be to scan all the control units with a compatible scan tool, and if this describes your problems (courtesy of Xemodex).You might need a CEM https://xemodex.com/us/product/centr...ansferservice/

"Common Communication Failures:
The following failures are almost always intermittent in nature, meaning that the CEM will operate normally most of the time. To reproduce these symptoms, start the vehicle and heat up the CEM with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, and observe the instrument cluster for any abnormal operation.
• Low Speed bus failures where two or more control units suddenly stop working at the same time. Most commonly the instrument cluster shuts down and the operation of power windows and sunroof is not possible. This is very common for all 2004 Volvo models with CEM part number 8688513".

This is my first volvo and I've noticed they have different name for a lot of things. CEM would be the equivalent to a body control module, correct?
