2005 S80 Transmission thump

Our 2005 S80 has pretty much always had an intermittent clunk when you arrive at a stop sign that feels like what I would have said was a broken motor mount in the old days…that sort of clunk. So the other day in our fantastic New England winter, my wife was working to get unstuck from a parking spot, rocking back and forth a bit, using the "W" selection and shifting to "L" - good news is she got out, bad news on the way home both the check engine light and the transmission service required lights came on. Did not go into limp mode. Next morning, only the check engine light remains, it's throwing a P0700 and P0780 code. Here's the thing tho, it's driving fine, and in fact, the clunk has gone away. Tried disconnecting the ground from the battery to reset the error code, hoping that somehow the winter weather had frozen something or some such nonsense, but it came back right away. Sound familiar to anyone?
