99 S80 Money Pit

I have a 99 S80 with 203,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I just bought new tires a few months ago and put $900 into it last month to replace a unit that was causing the headlights to fail (my husband's decision--not mine!). We have had extensive engine and transmission work done in the past 4 years; so it should be ok there. BUT... Now it appears the break booster needs replacing ($800+) and it has failed emissions test--code indicates camshaft. We've tried for over a year to address the check engine light--After several repairs, it just keeps coming back on--Volvo dealer can't seem to figure it out. Is it time to cut our losses? While I hate that we just put so much $$ into repairs and tires this year, seems like sinking any more money is throwing good after bad, given the emissions issue and mileage...

Please reply ASAP if possible as I have to decide TODAY whether or not to trade it in...

Ugh. It looks like I may only get about $600 trade-in!! Given the recent new tires and $900 repair last month, I am REALLY bummed. So any "experts" out there, please advise--should I cut my losses and run? I just can't see sinking any more $$ into it. I suppose I got my money's worth having driven it for 11 years and 200,000+ miles... I'll comfort myself with that!

what made the headlights fail ?

my driver side cuts out once every couple of months and then turns on again after i restart the car a few times

The decision on the car should be made by you, not by anyone on here, i would get rid of it...and go the 2006 accord route

What is the engine codes?
Is it more than just the cam codes?
Did they reset the timing?
Is your Husband handy?

The code was P1330, but there had been other codes over the past couple years too and that engine light just would never stay off! And no, my husband isn't handy! I'm not sure exactly what they replaced to get the lights to work... but it was expensive!

And yes, we decided to dump it. We are now the proud owners of a brand new Prius! :-) We did enjoy our Volvo though for most of the time that we had it these past 11 years... amz
