99 S80 poor radio reception in AM
 

My 99 S80 has had very poor AM radio reception and evidently it has to do with the antenna
connection. The dealer has fixed the problem twice but it keep coming back later on. I understand there are two connection areas that they look at,one in front somewhere and one in the rear on the inside.
Can anyone tell me where these are and what is done there to improve the performance?

Mine had same problem, there's a TSB on AM reception, they put some brass strip somewhere ( I can't see it) but works great now. Hope this helps :-D

I have the same problem, AM radio doesn't pick up anything. Hopefully, we can get some help

Does your car have (or have you recently installed) window tinting? Our 2004 was just fine receiving AM reception prior to having the rear windows tinted but was the pits after. I took the car back and complained about the reception and the shop said someone should have warned us about the tinting having adverse effects on the AM reception - they had not. After replacement with another type of tinting the reception was restored. I understand that the darker the tint the more interference you experience.n nThis may not be your problem but it certainly was ours.
