'99 T6 Oil Trap replacement with pics

5 Attachment(s)
I just wanted to post some pictures of the work I did chaning the Oil Trap. The accessory brack had to be notched inorder for me to access the hidden bolt. This was the first time the Oil Trap was replaced....inorder for me to remove the Oil Trap without removing the accessory bracket I had to break the Oil Trap and buy a new one.

Here are some of the pics:

You see that metal lined piece you've got there at the base of the breather box? What exactly is that? It's not OEM (The metal on it) I got that kit from IPD and when I pulled the original box off it wasn't part of the package. The rubber seal inside of the metal is however and was actually inside the crankcase. I pulled the metal piece off put it in and slid the box end into that... am I wrong? That's how it was configured by the factory so I just mirrored that...
EDIT::
Perhaps this was done incorrectly before by a shop on my vehicle (carfax didn't say...) Checking vadis you're is clearly configured correctly. However, it seemed sealed the way it was.... If I have to take this job on again I'm going to go nuts haha.

Yes the metal piece is OEM I ordered my parts from the Volvo dealer. I do agree with you that it's not the same as the original part that was on there from the factory. I think they re-engineered the piece because the old design with the hose clamps wasn't effective. The new design is nice...it fits on there real snug

Great pics! But how did you make the notch?

OMG... thank you for reminding me about the hose clamps. That's how I had it configured (I reused them..) Not practical but at least you reminding me means I don't have to redo it... (FACEPALM)

as far as the notch goes, you don't have to do it.. I had access to it just fine with an extension....

Anyone know if I need a hammer drill to be able to make the notch in the accessory bracket? Or will a metal bit on a regular drill have enough torque?

I used a small cutting wheel on an air grinder and then used a die grinder with a cone shaped bit to clean things up.

So I must have missed something because the crankcase pressure is not venting properly. The dipstick is still popping out and oil is getting sprayed everywhere. Any ideas??? what did I miss?? or what should I check?
