Acceleration weakens after kickdown T6

I would like to first off say this is a great forum. The T6 is my first Volvo and this site has been a wealth of information for me!!

I am not sure if this is a problem or just the nature of the car, but here we go. I have a 2001 S80 T6 with 70000 miles. Car runs excellent, gets good mileage and is very smooth. I have noticed when I mash the throttle at 60 - 70 mph, the car has inconsistant levels of acceleration. It downshifts quickly and pulls really hard all the way through on some occasions, other times it pulls hard right after the downshift and then immediately softens up. It still feels like it has turbos feeding it, but sometimes more, sometimes less. Is this a problem or is it the engine management system doing its thing?

My neighhbor says that is usually the car changing gears; but if yours is acting bad enough I would prob take it into the shop to get some expert feedback.

I may have to ask the dealer. Like I said, it is nice and smooth, it almost feels like I lifted up on the throttle but I didn't. I could be the shift, but it doesn't feel like it.
Thanks for the tip.
