Acronyms on this site... ETM & the Warranty?

So I picked up my '00 S80 2.9

Wow.... Just wow...

I've never owned a Luxury car, and this car is an ABSOLUTE DREAM to drive. Its soooo comfortable, smooth, quiet. Nice amount of power. Shifts nice and smooth. I have driven other luxury cars (BMW 5 series, Saabs, Lexus) and this has BY FAR the best ride out there. The suspension is nice and tight on the corners yet absolutely smooth on the bumpy roads.

I'm still getting used to this "drive by wire" with the gas pedal. I don't like it. I'm beginning to see where it comes in handy. It smooths everything out but it seems that sometimes it causes the transmission/engine to lag.

It doesn't seem like a transmission issue, if it is it feels like the torque converter isn't allowing much slip. It seems more like the throttle body motor isn't opening "fast enough" so there is a slight hesitation until I go above 25% throttle then it accelerates normal.

Anywho, I know most of the car acronyms out there, but haven't seen a definition for ETM yet. And what is this 10 year/200,000 mile warranty?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Oh yeah, did I mention I freakin' LOVE this car!!!???

Electronic Throttle Module. They had so many problems with them that had to extend the warranty on them to 10 years 200,000 miles.
But it still isn't easy to get a new one. There has to be certain codes and they have to perform tests on it and see if fail.

I cleaned my sticky ETM and that got rid of the split-second hesitation. Unfortunately my tranny still slips a little in first and reverse. Now that I put Lucas in it seems to get better after it warms up though. Hopefully I can get a year or two out of the car before this cr@ppy GM tranny quits on me completely. :(

Can someone confirm that the ETM is the actual throttle unit? The reason I ask is that since this is a 'fly' by wire system, there must also be a rheostat(sp?) connected to the gas pedal as well as one in the throttle unit. I gather it is the throttle unit which has the problems and which gets replaced? Why wouldn't the foot pedal unit go bad too?

Thks.

The foot pedal does at times but not nearly as much as the throttle body.
