Alignment Problems?
I'm new here, and I just purchased two new tires for my S80 today at a Firestone. The tires that needed to be replaced were in the rear, as the two in the front were bought new in late August. I was called back by one of the employees who showed me that the front two tires, particularly the one on the right, were extremely worn. Most of the right front tire was bare. Now, as I said, I just bought these tires in August and have put approx. 13-14,000 miles on the car since then. I don't drive my car particularly hard at all. It obviously points to a serious alignment problem, which the people at Firestone identified.
My issue is that since I bought the car used from a Volvo dealer in Summit, NJ, I have taken it there for regular service. At no time did they mention any alignment issues, although they did do a full check over of the car as recently as Winter, and told me the last two times that the rear tires were due for replacement, but said nothing about the condition of those in the front. Clearly, they either conveniently ignored the fact that the front tires were completely worn, and/or missed the alignment issue in their check-over of the car.
Obviously, I will now have to spend another few hundred on new tires, and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on what I could do. I was going to try to bring it to the dealer's attention to see what they could do, but does anyone realistically expect them to give me two free tires? I feel like they are 100% at fault. Sorry for the lengthy post, and thanks in advance for any ideas.
