bent valves!

hello everyone, today i picked up a 99' s80 with some engine problems . The timing belt skiped and it bent the crap out of some of the valves. I got a smoking deal on it so i jumped on it. Now, how hard is it to pull the head off and take care of this issue? i worked at ford for 4 years as a tech. Ive just never worked on a volvo. Watcha guys think? a couple of days?

It is not all that bad just time consuming. Also it is best to make or find the rear cam lock tool. Then before you remove the front VVT pulley if you mark it correctly then it will go back together really easy.

Check out this post it is for a 5 cylinder but is the same as the 6 cylinder.

ok, i took a look at it this morning. it looks like the serp belt got cought in the crank sprocket. I cant even see the sprocket because it has half the serp belt on it. is this a commom problem with the 2.9?

Not common but something make it throw the belt.

i just called a local volve shop to see if they would time it for me because i dont have the specialty tools. They said theres no way to time it. He told me it will have to go the the dealer! wtf. how can it not be timed, i dont get it. i know its going to be a big pain in the azz but..... does anyone have the step by step to time it if nothing was marked? thanks for the help

Make a tool to lock the cams then I can explain it to you from there.
