Blind rivet
So I'm in the process of removing my bumper, now I'm stumped. How the hell do you remove the blind rivets?? I understand you need to drill them out. But that doesn't seem to work.....I got one off, i have seven more to go......?

Yup they were rivets, quite the challenge to remove...
In the picture you can see the old rivet with the head removed (left) and a new unused rivet(right); from what I was told/did you get a drill bit thats bigger than the hole in the center of the rivet, and start drilling till it falls off. The next challenge for me was getting the rivet end off the bumper it's self. I used some WD-40, so it could come out easier. Anyway I just tugged really hard till it popped out, But I had to cautious not to turn it in any angle cause it would bend and start cracking the plastic on the bumper. So I did finish all of it, !!wasn't easy!! The other picture with the bumper removed is with the old headlights.... Now I have to adjust the new headlights, there're pointing up instead of down.... |
hmm i had posted some threads a while back regarding removing the bumper..i had saved some pics
