brief knocking in cold weather
2012 s80. If I start it up in cold <40 weather I get a knocking sound from under the hood when I give it some gas to pull out of my neighborhood. (only happens in the first minute). I know I should just let it warm up but I thought I'd ask the group what they think it is. No other issues.

it's 312 not a turbo

Try a lighter weight oil in the cold weather. It sounds like your oil pressure isn`t coming up right away during an overnight cold start. It`s probably Connecting rod noise at the crankshaft as those bearings require oil pressure to lubricate and work more than any other. If the lighter weight oil doesn`t work and it only happens on the first start of the day, you will have to live with it. But I would let it idle till the noise is silenced
