Buying a 2002 S80

I am thinking of buying a 2002 S80. The choice is between a 2002 S60 AWD or an S80. I live in Canada and needs to drive in snow and icy roads too. Is the S60 cramped in the back seat?

Any information and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Personally, the S60 was too small for my taste, it isn't just the back seat the felt small, but the front as well for the passenger, it felt too close to the dash so to speak.

Otherwise, both cars are great otherwise and offer pretty much the same options, amenities and features.

I would go for the s80. I contemplated the same thing before I bought mine. I'm glad I went with the bigger s80 now that I'm driving it. If you've got kids or plan on anyone riding in the backseat go with the bigger car. It's still not huge, I'm currently trying to figure out how I'm going to fit an infant seat along with the toddler seat and a teenager in the back. I m in BC and have had no problems in this winter's snow so far with snow tires on the car.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I will go for the S80 then. The only worry I had was how the S80 would handle in the Canadian Winter.(I moved from UK).

This winter is my first one with ant S80. Of course there are better cars to drive on slippery raods, like awd's and so on, but generaly i'm happy with it on snowy and slippery roads. If you have good quality winter tires it will deal with winter conditions pretty well.

Ditto on the winter tires. I ran a set of Michelin Arctic Alpin 215/55-16's on steel wheels and loved them. I have the same set on my V70 now.

the s80 handles itself very well in the snow, of course snow tires are a must, but it is very good in the snow for such a heavy car with FWD...

Living in the snowiest large city in the US, I can tell you without a doubt the S80 drives like a dream in the snow, slush and icy conditions (ice is ice though, regardless of how many wheels are driving the car, you're going to slide).

(ice is ice though, regardless of how many wheels are driving the car, you're going to slide).

That I agree with you. It is the winter tires that is important. But I have seen that traction control plays an important role too.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?
